Tony Ferguson out for UFC 223 – Max Holloway in

UFC President Dana White announced in an Instagram post that interim Lightweight champion Tony Ferguson was injured two weeks before the fight that was going to pit him against Khabib Nurmagomedov for the mainline title, thus replacing Conor McGregor, who hasn’t fought for the promotion since 2016.

In his place it will be Featherweight champion Max Holloway the man facing the russian. He will be fighting to become only the second fighter in UFC history to hold two titles simultaneously, after Conor McGregor did it by beating Eddie Alvarez in UFC 205.

UFC 223 will take place on April 7 at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.
