After the first leg of the Juventus – Real Madrid and Sevilla – Bayern München Champions League quarter final round both visiting teams took a huge step forward towards securing their place in the next round.
Real Madrid thoroughly beat Juventus in their home turf, finishing with a 0-3 victory that paves the way for an easy second leg game to be played in Santiago Bernabeu stadium. With Cristiano Ronaldo scoring to goals, including an overhead volley beauty that pierced Buffon’s net. Juventus will be without Paulo Dybala for the difficult task of turning the score around next week in the second leg match, after the Argentinian saw a red card following a hard foul on Carvajal. Real Madrid will also be without their captain, centre back Sergio Ramos, who will have to serve a one game ban after finishing a yellow card cycle.
Bayern beat Sevilla in the Andalusian capital by a score of 1-2. Sarabia scored to give the home team the lead in the 31st minute, but a Ribery cross five minutes later hit Jesús Navas to beat his own goalkeeper, resestting the game back to a draw. Bayern proved to be the fitter of both squads, as Sevilla seem to pay the price of a difficult La Liga game against Barcelona last saturday. They will have to beat Bayern in Allianz Arena to advance, something that only Real Madrid has done the last 4 years in the Champions League.
